Our full-service clinic in Lenexa, Kansas, is a state-of-the-art research center, located near metropolitan Kansas City. With a 114-bed capacity, our Lenexa facility features spacious common areas for interacting with other participants, big-screen TVs, comfortable seating, a pool table, gaming systems, foosball, a dart board, DVDs, satellite TV, computers and more. We also offer WiFi access for those bringing their own devices. Our friendly and experienced staff are here to guide you through the clinical study and make your experience with us as positive as possible.

Research Physician and Medical Director

Dr. Daniel Dickerson has served as research physician and medical director at PRA’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., since August 2014. Board-certified in family medicine, Dr. Dickerson also serves as a clinical instructor for the University of Kansas School of Medicine (KU SOM), a position he has held since 2002. He currently serves as a member of the Governmental Advocacy Committee for the Kansas Academy of Family Physicians.

Prior to joining PRA, Dr. Dickerson practiced family medicine for 15 years, including 12 years at Eudora Family Care in Eudora, Kan. He earned his doctor of medicine from KU SOM in 1996, later completing a residency in family medicine in 1999 through the University of Kansas Medical Center and Olathe Family Practice. Dr. Dickerson also holds a doctor of philosophy in chemistry in 1994 from the University of Missouri.
Dr. Dickerson has received several professional honors during his career, including being named the Preceptor of the Year in 2012 by KU SOM and being honored as the Rainbow Award (Hero in Medicine) recipient in 2006 by the KU SOM. In 2005, he was also recognized with Foundation Teaching Award by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). Additionally, Dr. Dickerson was inducted as a fellow of the AAFP in 2002.

Greg Appenfeller, MD
Research Physician

Dr. Greg Appenfeller has served as a research physician at PRA’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., since December 2016. He serves as a sub-investigator, performing screening assessments to evaluate whether volunteers meet qualification criteria for various studies, ensuring adherence to clinical trial protocols and providing medical care for study participants.

Prior to joining PRA, Dr. Appenfeller practiced as an anesthesiologist in the Kansas City area for more than 25 years, most recently serving as a staff anesthesiologist for nearly 13 years at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kan. He earned his doctor of medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine in 1983 before completing a residency in anesthesiology through the University of Rochester (N.Y.) in 1986.

Anne Nevitt
Director, Clinical Research Services

Anne Nevitt currently serves as director of clinical research services at PRA’s clinic in Lenexa, Kan., where she has worked since August 2015. Nevitt, who has approximately 15 years of experience in the clinical research field, has worked in a variety of research-related roles during that time, including as director of operations, a clinical conduct manager and a clinical study manager. She earned a bachelor’s degree in biological studies in 2002 from the University of Nebraska.

Frequently asked questions
EDITED Will I get paid for participating in a clinical study?

While participation in a clinical study is voluntary, you may be paid for your time and travel. Compensation is based on the length of the study, the number of overnight stays in our clinic and the number of out-patient visits you attend. You may also be compensated for some procedures depending upon the study. All payments we make for study participation have been approved by an Independent Review Board (IRB). The method and frequency of payment will be described in detail in the Informed Consent Form (ICF).

What if I’d like to refer a friend or family member for a study?

Even if you don’t qualify for a particular study, you may be able to refer a friend or family member. If approved by an Independent Review Board (IRB), PRA may be able to provide you a referral bonus of up to $300 for each qualified study participant that you refer. To qualify for the payment, the person you refer must:
• Be a first-time volunteer
• Mention your name when applying over the phone
• Fully participate in the study
All payments from PRA Health Sciences must be approved by an IRB before any payment may be made to you. Please contact us for more information.

I’m thinking of extending my stay in Kansas City after my study ends. What else is there to do?
